The Business Owner’s Guide to Packing Parcels Safely and Efficiently

Every delivery starts with packaging.

Whether you’re shipping a small gift or multiple eCommerce orders, the way you pack your parcels makes the difference between a safe arrival and a damaged product.

Here are some of our tips to make sure your orders arrive in perfect condition:

1. Choose the Right Box

Always pick a box slightly larger than your item to allow for padding. Reusing boxes is fine, but make sure they’re sturdy and free from damage.

2. Protect with Cushioning

Use bubble wrap, packing peanuts, or crumpled paper to stop items moving around. For fragile products, double-boxing can add extra security.

3. Seal Properly

Use strong parcel tape, not ordinary sticky tape. Reinforce edges and corners to prevent splitting during transit.

4. Label Clearly

Print labels where possible, and avoid handwriting that could smudge or fade. Place the label on the largest flat surface of the box.

5. Consider Weight Distribution

Don’t overload small boxes or underfill large ones. A balanced parcel is less likely to get damaged in transit.

6. Think Efficiency

Packing multiple parcels daily? Create a simple packing station with all supplies at hand. This reduces time wasted looking for materials and makes the process smoother.

Well-packed parcels don’t just arrive safely — they make your business look professional and trustworthy.
